ISC Big Data'13
Dear Big Data friends and colleagues,
On September 25th - 26th we will organise the first ISC Big Data conference and we are preparing a great programme for it. The conference will be held immediately after the ISC Cloud'13 conference in the lovely city of Heidelberg. Our slogan will be "ISC Big Data - where Enterprise and HPC Meet" and let me clarify a bit what we mean. Many people say, correctly, that Big Data is nothing new. Large scientific organisations, including CERN and many others, have been collecting large amounts of data for decades. What is new, however, is that the focus has now broadened to almost all sectors - be it business analytics in enterprises, financial analyses, Internet Service Providers, oil and gas, medicine, automotive, and a long list of others. All of us want to extract knowledge from vast amounts of data. We refer to the three "Vs", "Volume, Velocity, and Variety", and nobody wants to miss out on this vital, new trend.
In Heidelberg we plan to cover all relevant areas of Big Data, namely:
- Big Data Analytics in Enterprises, Science and other domains based on success stories and real-life case studies
- Big Data software stacks
- Big Data transformations, structures, and overall organisation
- Big Data infrastructure including storage hierarchies and interconnects
Whether you and your organisation are new to Big Data or you have been involved for years, you should definitely plan on participating in our conference which will be organised across two full days, the 25th and 26th of September, in the Marriott Hotel in Heidelberg, Germany.
Together with the ISC Events team I look forward to welcoming you.
