The second annual ISC Big Data conference exceeded the expectations of many participants, generating a fascinating interaction that spanned two days.

This was a truly international event, which attracted over 100 professionals from different European countries, Japan and the US, engaged in data analytics efforts across government, industry, and academia.

This year’s conference explored the latest developments in data analytics technologies and projects, including a series of talks on the Hadoop ecosystem, a number of sessions focusing on security and privacy issues, presentations by SAS and SAP representatives, and an update on government-backed big data efforts in the European Union. Big Data case studies spanning commercial endeavors and scientific research projects were also presented.

A number of journalists were on-site to cover the event, including the senior editor of International Science Grid This Week (iSGTW), the publisher of Scientific Computing World (SCW), the president and owner of insideHPC, and the editor of Primeur Magazine. Industry analysts Addison Snell and Michael Feldman, of Intersect Research, spoke about the conference in a recent podcast.

Attendees and sponsors had the opportunity to engage in private discussions during the boat cruise dinner. All images captured during the conference can be viewed and downloaded on Flickr.

We hope to see you again soon, this time at the ISC High Performance conference, from July 12-16, 2015 in Frankfurt Germany.
