Chris Ingle

Chris Ingle is consulting and research director for IDC's European Systems Group. He provides research and consulting services to CIOs and IT professionals, IT vendors, IT resellers and systems integrators, investment banks, and government agencies.

Ingle focuses on managing IT for maximum value and identifying the technologies and strategies that can contribute to business success.

His projects and research areas cover: analysis of datacenter design and management, servers, storage, client devices, systems management, and virtualization technologies.

He has worked on licensing, pricing, and procurement in the public and private sectors; including TCO and ROI studies. He has worked on new business models for technology acquisition both for end-user organizations and for software vendors.

Outside of mainstream enterprise IT, he has researched high-performance computing, embedded and industry-specialized devices, and consumer devices. He has advised entrants to the European market in these and other areas on appropriate strategies and potential partnerships.

Since 2004, he has researched sustainable technologies and green IT. He focuses on technologies, management and consumer attitudes, and regulatory activity.

Ingle's work with IT vendors and resellers focuses on growing their business, improving customer experience, and addressing perception concerns. For investment banks, he has worked on analyzing the strategies of leading IT vendors, advising on business plans, and providing market information. For government agencies he has worked on IT policy and procurement.

Ingle frequently presents to large and small audiences and regularly chairs conferences and other events.
