Clouds Taken Seriously: Service Level Agreements & Software Licenses

For the end-user cloud computing still has two essential shortcomings: (i) the lack of fair, flexible and comprehensive service level agreements that take into account various user needs, and (ii) weak support for running software license protected applications in the cloud. While (i) is owned to the comfortable position of most providers (ii) is resulting from ISVs trying to continue using traditional business models and licensing technology in clouds. We will give an overview on the current state and present some recent developments to overcome these limitations.
