Hazim Shafi received a BSEE from Santa Clara University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rice University. His main areas of expertise are parallel and distributed processing with emphasis on techniques to reduce/tolerate memory latency in shared memory multiprocessors, parallel performance analysis tools, and reliable clusters. He is currently the architect of parallel performance tools in the Parallel Computing Platform team at Microsoft. Before joining Microsoft, Dr. Shafi was with IBM Research where he worked on the CELL architecture, the DARPA HPCS and PAC/C programs, and system simulation tools.
