Software Developer, Simulation & Software Technology Division, German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany
Michael Meinel studied computer science at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Mannheim with the focus on information technologies for engineering. He wrote his diploma thesis on code generation in an OSGi environment at the Simulation and Software Technology Division of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne. After his graduation in 2007 he joined the newly founded Center for Computer Applications in Aerospace Science and Engineering (C2A2S2E) at DLR’s Brunswick site where he is now one of the core developers of the FlowSimulator software – an open, industry-strength software framework for large-scale CFD simulations. Focal points of his work are efficient parallel data structures and communication algorithms.
