Advanced Memory Technology – #1 Factor for Energy Efficient HPC

Since many years Samsung Semiconductor has been the volume- and technology leader in the field of Memory solutions. In the high-end computer segment, numerous manufacturers rely on Samsung’s very reliable and advanced products.

New deployments of Petascale HPCs often incorporate several hundred Terrabytes of system memory, soon entering the Petabyte era. With the ever increasing memory size, its impact on system reliability, system performance and energy efficiency has become a critical factor for the entire system.
Samsung wants to share its thoughts on technology trends in the DRAM segment, stimulate discussions on the effective use of SSD technology in supercomputing, venture a glimpse at next generation memory candidates such as Phase Change Memory and Spin Transfer Torque MRAM and explain the paradox of more performance with less energy.
