| Abstract: |
|
A paper presented at SC'11 updated the 2008 DARPA Exascale technology report to isolate out the effects of architecture and technology on high performance computing as seen through the TOP 500, and lay the groundwork to project how current systems might mature through the coming years through three classes of architectures: "heavyweight" (based on high end commodity microprocessors), "lightweight" (primarily BlueGene variants), and "heterogeneous" architectures (leveraging the emerging class of GPU-like chips). This talk will update that projection, with a particular focus on energy, and bring into play similar analyses using the GREEN 500 and GRAPH 500 as additional data sets. |
