Power bill is becoming a dominant factor of the operational cost of supercomputers. In this talk we represent concepts to reduce the energy consumption like warm water cooling, reuse of waste heat for adsorption cooling or for building heating, energy aware scheduling, and frequency scaling. We will show how these ideas have influenced procurement of the SuperMUC system and describe the installation requirements.
