| Abstract: |
|
Japanese petascale computing facility, the K computer, has been installed and starts official operation in the 4th quarter of 2012. Several computational science projects and organizations such as AICS (Advanced Institute for Computational Science) and HPCI (High Performance Computing Infrastructure) Consortium have been launched to make use of the full potential of the K computer system to foster large-scale computational sciences. It is time to start discussion and planning for the next of the K computer. Several workshops were organized to discuss the direction of Japanese post-petascale computing and draft a white paper about Strategic Direction/Development of HPC in JAPAN. The projects for “Feasibility Study of Advanced High Performance Computing” will be started. In this talk, the current status and updates of the Japanese national petascale facility and related projects, and some perspective for post-petascale computing will be presented. |
