When considering Cloud computing for large scale deployment, businesses, and other organisations face many difficulties, including danger of vendor lockin, security issues, and handling large data sets. Europe has a strong research community active in Cloud computing, working on solutions to address many of these difficulties. The BoF is will bring researchers and potential business users together. The focus will be on large scale federations of Clouds. The session starts with an inventory of Cloud issues in large scale HPC deployments. Examples are taken from scenarios that research projects intend to solve and include a large scale multi media market place, bioinformatics based in-silico drug design, and simulation environments for neutron scattering experiments. Characteristics of these applications include big data, HPC, and multi-organisation involvement. Projects, including Contrail, and mOSAIC will propose their developments. The session will close with a panel discussion. |
