 Dr. Peter BoyleReader in Particle Physics, University of Edinburgh
Dr Boyle is a Reader in Particle Physics at the University of Edinburgh.
He played a key role in the development of the academic special purpose QCDOC supercomputer in a collaboration involving Columbia University, Edinburgh University, the RIKEN instute, and IBM T J Watson Research Center. He was responsible for pre-silicon verification, high performance QCD simulation code, the operating system development, and the post silicon system debug and bringup. The QCDOC was a pioneering exercise in hardware software codesign.
Dr Boyle has more recently designed the Level 1 prefetch engine for BlueGene/Q in a collaboration between IBM, Edinburgh University and Columbia University, again an exciting exercise in hardware-software codesign. |
