Prof. Dr. Kai NordlundProfessor, University of Helsinki
Kai Nordlund obtained his PhD at the University of Helsinki in 1995. After a postdoc at the University of Illinois, he held various Academy of Finland research positions until being nominated full professor of computational physics in 2003. He is leading a 20-person research group doing atomistic simulations of all classes of materials. The set of methods used ranges from time-dependent quantum mechanical electronic structure calculations to classical molecular dynamics and object kinetic Monte Carlo methods. He also lead the acquisition of a network of nine Grid cluster computers in Finnish universities in 2004 and again in 2011. |
