June 17-21 ISC’12 Conference on Record-Setting Pace for Registration, Exhibition

It’s not too late to register for the HPC event of 2012

HAMBURG, Germany, June 12 —With just a few days to go, the global High Performance Computing community is beating a path to the Congress Center Hamburg, where the 2012 International Supercomputing Conference (ISC’12) opens Sunday, June 17, welcoming record numbers of attendees— 2,300 and counting—as well as a record-setting 175 exhibitors from around the world.

There is still time to take advantage of lower registration fees by registering online now. Fees will go up when the conference opens June 17. Registration this year is running 15 percent ahead of last year, pointing to an estimated record attendance of 2,400 participants.

Now in its 27th year, ISC’12 hosts a day of hands-on tutorials and an HPC in Asia workshop (June 17), a four-day program of presentations by internationally recognized experts (June 18-21) and a three-day exhibition, the largest in Europe dedicated to HPC (June 18-20). Although international in scope, the conference program is conducted in English.

To give attendees the maximum flexibility in their schedules, ISC’12 offers a range of registration options, from one-day passes to the exhibition to an all-inclusive pass for the full four-day program. Separate registration is required for the workshop and tutorials. For details, see the ISC’12 Registration Site.

Here are some of the highlights for ISC’12:

Keynote presentations: Each day’s program will feature a compelling keynote talk by some of the best-known experts in their field. Guus Dekkers, CIO of EADS and Airbus, will discuss “HPC as Enabler for the Virtualization of Aircraft Development.” Byungse So, Senior Vice President and Head of Memory Product Planning & Application Engineering Team for Samsung, will give the Tuesday keynote talk on “Advanced Memory Technology – #1 Factor for Energy Efficient HPC.” Thomas Sterling, Professor of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University, will give his traditional look at the year past and the year ahead in his Wednesday keynote entitled “HPC Achievement & Impact 2012.” Arndt Bode, Director, Leibniz Rechenzentrum and Technische Universität München, will deliver the Thursday keynote presentation on “Extreme Energy Efficiency with SuperMUC.”

2012 Exhibition: ISC’12 will host the most extensive and dynamic exhibition in the history of the conference, with 54 new industrial and research exhibitors bringing the total to 175. View the full list of exhibitors.

39th TOP500 List: Twice a year, the editors of the TOP500 List of the world’s most powerful supercomputers announce their latest findings, which are closely watched by both industry and research institutions. The list debuted at the June 1993 ISC in Mannheim.

Tutorials: ISC’12 kicks off Sunday, June 17, with two full-day and 10 half-day Tutorials on a broad range of application topics, including hot topics such as Dynamic extreme-scale parallel programming, Cloud computing, Cilk Plus, and Advanced MPI.

HPC in Asia Workshop: This is the second year for this workshop, which aims to share information on the latest status of HPC systems and applications from leading countries in Asia.

Finally, to help attendees keep track of the many sessions and create customized personal schedules, ISC’12 offers an agenda planner app.
