Christian Terboven is the deputy head of the High Performance Computing Group at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University. His research interests center around Parallel Programming – with a focus on Shared-Memory architectures, Paradigms, Programming Languages, and related Software Engineering aspects. He has been involved in the Analysis, Tuning and Parallelization of several large-scale simulation codes for various architectures, and has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers on this subject.
Since 2006 he is a member of the OpenMP Language Committee. In this capacity, he is the lead of the Affinity subcommittee, working on explicit support for NUMA architectures, and the co-lead of the Tasking subcommittee, extending the support for Task-based parallelism. He is also the second representative in the OpenMP Architecture Review Board for RWTH Aachen University. He has been recognized as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Technical Computing and Azure (formerly Windows HPC Server) several times.
