|Abstract:||Enterprises have been used to dealing with large data volumes for making business decisions already for decades. Recent technological achievements together with decreasing costs in the fields of storage and computing power enable today more advanced analytical scenarios. Prominent examples are predictive maintenance, sentiment analysis or customer intelligence, where large volumes of structured transactional data as well as less structured data from weblogs, social media or sensors are continuously collected and analyzed to discover new business insights.
While the usage of leading-edge big data and cloud technologies simplifies the collection and treatment of massive data streams, new types of business scenarios are emerging in all industries in which fast, fine-grained data is gathered, combined and analyzed on-the-fly. Those analyses are not only used to optimize business reactiveness in real-time but also used to create new services based on the instant availability of information. This presentation shows trends in data-driven business scenarios where state-of-the-art big data and cloud technologies are exploited to collect and process massive data sources and deliver new business value.
