|Abstract:||Starting up a business in today’s computer industry is always a high-risk proposition. More than a third of fledgling companies in this segment fail after four years. The high performance computing area presents its own unique challenges for startups given the specialized needs of its users and their applications. But today there is a wider array of funding opportunities than there have been in the past, while at the same time there is a growing focus on price-performance, energy efficiency, and ease of use.
For HPC, the unending demand for greater performance continues to drive innovation and encourages entrepreneurs with new technology and approaches to enter the field. This session will explore the experiences of a number of newer HPC companies as they navigate the challenges of starting up their businesses.
