Abstract:   This session focuses on support-structures and HPC-Provisioning for industrial users. The first presentation will give some insight into the CAE-process typical for corporates in manufacturing industries.  From this, the required HPC-service structures will be derived. A special focus ill be put on the special requirements of locally distributed organizations and on extended private cloud concepts adding external resources to internal resources of the respective organizations.
Whereas the first talk puts its focus more on corporates with their complex process-integration requirements, the second talk will take up the specific needs of SMEs. Here the situation is quite different. Most SMEs lack own HPC-resources and also they often need external assistance in the whole area of HPC-based simulations. So technical and application issues have to be addressed in the same way, as economic conditions and business-models.
Provisioning for corporates as well as SMEs has to address the base load as well as peak-load and fluctuations. Utility computing based on cloud-like provisioning models is therefore a key element of industrial HPC-support structures. Consequently the third presentation will concentrate on solution environments for utility HPC.
